New Issue only 2 weeks away

Since it's at the printer and there's nothing we can do about anything. And since I've already had a few nightmares about everything going screwy at the printer. I figured I give the world a sneak preview at our new cover. We've broken from our grid system ever so slightly. And while it may seem cryptic, the cover speaks directly to what's in store on the inside. We'd love to know what you think.

Babes on Bikes

I'm doing a bunch of research on the bicycle right now. I'm putting together the Kona catalogue (konaworld.com) and we're featuring a story on bicycle commuting. Crazy that 1% of American commuters use the bike to get to work. Crazy because the bike is the most efficient machine ever invented. An apple can get you 20 kilometres. Anyway, if you've ever been to Copenhagen know that bikes rule. One third of all urban trips are made via bicycle. And because there's so many babes in Copenhagen, there's tons of babes on bikes. Which makes bikes even more cool. In my research I came across this blog hosted by Copenhagen Cycle Chic. Check it out at copenhagengirlsonbikes.blogspot.com. Beauty. The babe and the bike. Two beautiful things quietly making their way through the world.

Design Weirdness

Two weeks away from the next issue of KMC. The Design Issue. We're quite proud of it, but at the same time, realize we're just scratching the surface when it comes to the whole notion of design. One of the feature stories looks at design in nature and the human relationship to this grand story that's been played out over incredibly long periods of time. While researching the piece I came across this photo. It's striking. I'm not sure if it happened by chance or purpose. Regardless, it makes you think. What is our role in the epoch tale of this world? Are we mere destructors? Or are we part of a natural system that's playing out according to plan? We prefer to view ourselves as either stewards or a cancer. Those philosophies are imbedded in the very semantics of our language. This image seems to challenge all of that. The beauty and rebirth that often hides under destruction.
